STT Cooper VS Goodyear Wrangler Mt/R?
I currently have the Goodyear Wrangler Mt/R`s (255.55.19) mounted. During the week, I use the car to go to work, however in the weekends, im offroad always. I have considered selling my current tyres and buying 17 or 18" wheels to mount STT Coopers on them.
Any opinons as per which are better etc...
Has anyone tried both?

I've ran with both types on my D3 in the past.
I just couldn't live with the road noise and fast road handling with the STT's.
But could do with the MTR's
Both excellent off road though.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

MTR's on 19's LOOK far cooler than Cooper's on 17's
Not that I'm biassed after swapping from ST's (rather than STT's) to MTR's Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Well, my road tyres are Scorpion ATR's, and so far so good. TFC has just tested them to the extreme in Tunisia so is probably the best one to comment.
I went down the STT route for 2 reasons, I had 6 x 17" rims kicking around and they were significantly less expensive if I trashed a couple on rock strewn ruts and general off-road hard use. Did about 3k miles on them last winter and the handling was very good. Great in the snow, and 4 clicks of the stereo drowned out the road noise "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

not my home - I'm parked in deepest darkest premier league footballer territory though so its unsurprising there's a pepper pig in shot - what you can't see is the other Porsches, a Bentley, a sprinkling of Mercs and Full Fats / Sports Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Cooper tyres are subject to chipping (not a problem in the UK) due their tyre compound. That is the reason Cooper introduced the ST-C. I run MTR's being a softer compound, they are less prone to chipping but then again they will not give the mileage of the Coopers. I only use my D3 as an offroad toy and therefore the MTR's are exactly right for me. My only problem is that I run 19" wheels which are not the best for outback travel (not enough rubber).06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

I've never seen a puncture offroad with STTs. I've seen loads of punctures on MT/Rs. a 19 inch rim means low profile tyres with much less cushioning, so its a lot harder on the tyre. OTOK STTs are nisy as hell (I've run many thousands of miles on mine and its always a blessed relief to go back to my road wheeels.
If you're going to leave them on all the time go for MT/Rs but take a spare MT/R with you, preferably two

Ive had 2 punctures in my ST's in 100,000 of driving and non in my STTs (although Ive only used them for any lengthy period on Croisiere)
ST's are about £80 each and STTs £90 - about half the price of an MTR - my STs last about 50,000 miles if I ran them to 2mm
Never had MTRs so cant comment on themDuncan

I'd try a set of Pirelli ATR's on your 19" rims. I find them very nearly as good as the Scorpions on road & so far they've not let me down off road. I first tested them off road on Salisbury Plain, tried to get stuck at VA's crossing by driving far too slow, but they were fine. Also seem to be wearing well.
If you don't get on with them off road at least you can keep them as a good on road tyre!
Having run Scorpions, Wrangler HP's & MTR's on 19" rims I can honestly say that the ATR is the best all rounder. MTR's look fantastic & naturally perform well in muddy conditions, but on road they're noisy, the handling does suffer & I was dropping about 2 mpg. I still have a set, but I'll not be using them as much now I have the ATR's.
