Could someone advise me which is the best and most effective performance chip/remap for the TDV6 please and whats the difference/benefits between a plug in chip and a remap other than one is removable?
Cheers

you can get removable remaps now (see site sponser BAS) a remap is far better than a plug inRichard

Put basically, unlike off the shelf one chip for all this tune (remap) scan your vehicle and then creates a tune specifc to you vehicle's settings and tolerances. For the geeky techie explaination contact TFCLRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Performance Chips
Thanks for your replies.
I have a 57 Disco 3 with a years warranty left. What sort of risk am I taking in having it done do you reckon? Also is there any particular remaps which come recommended. I have spoken to a N orfolk based LR independant garage and he says they are pretty much the same.
I had mine done after 18 months never been an issue with warranty. Some remaps/chips I've seen tend to cause smoke when you boot it - TorqTune doesn't - for specs contact 10forcash at www.offroad-essentials.comLRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Have TorqTune (as above) and Turbo Chip (on 2 cars, not 480bhp on one!!!), well recomend either. Both cars out of warranty but never had any issue with dealer saying "Oi, you've modded it so hand over lots of dosh", indeed most dealers will offer a remap at way more cash than TT, TC or BAS,s removable map. My car had remap from 1 year old and SWMBO's from new. For me it's a case of which map, whether to remap or not is a no-brainer. Have had excellent service from TFC for reapplying remap after new turbo fitted on mine and similar excellent service from Turbo Chip when SWMBO's turbo died.

Thanks for those replies. I will try to find out if I can get this done locally.
I did put a chip on a previous Defender and an overdrive and the dealer said they viewed it as an enhancement and not something detrimental which i thought was pretty good of them.
Had my remap done by Evolution chips, these were recommended by a friend who owns a garage and has had 2 of his own motors done, chuffed to bits with the remap sooo much quicker, great response & no flat spots & getting 29-31 mpg .happy days .My discovery is only 4 months old ,remap is undetectable.love it!!
