Ive just returned our lights back to UK spec and would like to add that on our (06 build), the little switch was still down in the position that i pushed it before my continental trip. It hadnt sprung back at all.
This evening, all i did was pull the lever back up to its furthermost position (about half inch travel) and the beam has changed accordingly.
UK driving = Lever all the way Up
Continental Driving = Lever all the way Down
One final point to note, on the Nearside headlight, the lever is a little more awkward to locate and is next to a spring clip. If you have the adaptive lights then they simply move, or should i say swivel out of the way to give better access to the lever.
Once you have noted the Levers position then its easy and you wont forget.l

Just adjusted my lights for going to Euro-land...
And yes its lever down for Europe.
First you must take the headlights off the car to ensure that you have successful adjusted the lamp switch 'all the way.'
Also I noticed that if you look through the front of the headlamp (with the lamps switched off!!) when you move the lever, you can in actual fact see a small semaphore come up and it covers a slight cut-out in the fixed metal piece that it covers when in continental mode.
I concur the only way to do this is with the lights out of the car otherwise you cannot be sure that the semaphore goes all the way across this cut-out.
Take a look for yourself when next you have to adjust and you will see this 1-2mm finger line up with the reflector/metal cutout in the headlamp. Again you need to do this 'on the bench.'
Hope this helps...!!
