Yep your right, and a bloody good guide at that
I've just fitted my kit and took about an hour and a half - and thats with two of the lower bolts really not wanting to come out. when they finally released, i thought they may have snapped , but no, they were fine!
Thanks Pete, now let just hope for some increased fuel economy!! You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.

Guys - I had my D3 serviced - was 100% before the service - but since I got it back has lost power. Back to the garage and they state adamantly that the faulty EGR valves could not have been caused by anything they did during the service. They performed an engine flush & break fluid flush on top of std service - so I tend to believe that this could not have caused it - but would like your opinion.
In any case - needs replacing and the cost of replacing the vales is £612 - so clearly the blank off is the way to go.
Can I please get some guidance on where I should order the BAS kit from and what tools you need to install it. I gather from the posts it is a 2h30 job - but possible to do even for a novice like myself??

You can order the kit from the B A S website, click sponsors link at top of page under Disco3.co.uk, you will also find a pdf file which may give you details of tools you will need. Why buy a car when you can buy a Land Rover.....because I'm worth it.

Dart180, did you get any warning messages on the dash? Like Engine System fault, No special programs available?
If you did, and find out what the problem is, post the answer on here as quite a few have the same problem, me included! Mark.

Yes! It said 'Engine system fault'. Going in to get checked tomorrow as in warranty so I'll let you know what happens.

Sorry to ask, but what year model is a "54 plate" - I'm following this thread anciously to hear when the 2007 onwards models will have a blanking procedure that will not cause ECU errors.
I can not see what moddel car you drive when looking at the profile, although it is selected.

Go Bell Autos! Brilliant kit and great instructions and photos with it
Bloody fiddly job as it's difficult to get on the end of some of the screws, and them torx screws that you can't get a driver on are setup in a well designed place hey!
..best bit of advice is to ram some rag down below the work in case you drop a gasket or a screw
quick test drive last night seems to indicate that I've got a NEW Disco, one that I didn't have before!!
thanks guys

That's why I've just blanked my EGR's off
I've had exactly the same thing happen many times, funny thing is that i changed to the Disco as i was using a VW T5 Transporter that did exactly the same thing - so moving to the Disco was meant to stop this by providing more grunt!!
I've found that if you pull into a layby and simply switch the engine off, count to three, switch the engine back on again seems to reset the "Syncron Metaboosters" or whatever it is that is causing the problem
i'm hoping this EGR blanking fix has sorted it as now the Disco seems to have loads of grunt back - will let you know next time I pull the trailer up a steep long hill

Is your's temperature related or just load?
Hopefully you can post back something positive, as I'd blank mine if I thought it would do some good, even though is under warranty. Mark.
