D3 - All key maintenance

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I couldn't find anything that quite fit the bill using the search function, though that doesn't mean it's not out there.

Coming up on 240k miles on my D3 which has been in the family since new in 05. I'd like to keep this car for the foreseeable and am ok with spending a bit to get work done, am capable of moderate spannering too. I was wondering if there was anything that hadn't been done to my D3 which definitely should have been by this age and mileage, or would be a good idea to avoid sudden failure of something critical...

It is on the original engine, gearbox (auto), and turbo. Not original TC.

Rough list of major(ish) routine and non-routine work done so far...

Timing belts changed ahead of schedule x 2
Oil pump replaced for new type @ 210k
Intercooler top hose replaced
Alternator replaced
Gearbox and TC flush / oils changed several times
Diff and transfer box oils changed several times
Front and rear shocks / bags replaced @ 230k miles
EPB module replaced
Brake servo and master cylinder replacement
Fuel tank cradle replaced
TC and main drive shaft replaced @ 160k
Air suspension compressor replaced @ 150k
EGR valves blanked @ 140k

This is all in addition to more routine stuff - oil changes, new batteries, wheel bearings, suspension components, blocked sunroof drains etc that crop up frequently...

Just looking for any thoughts on items that haven't been done / I've overlooked that could potentially be ticking time bombs.

Thanks.

That’s quite an achievement! Thumbs Up Things that I’m looking at on mine over the next few months are… Check air suspension reservoir for rust, replace if required. Remove sill trims and clean out, including rear wheel arches, check for rust. Remove and replace front plastic panel below windscreen (discoloured).

I’m sure others will be along with more items soon..
I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Good shout on the rust... had quite a few advisories for surface corrosion on the 2019 MOT with a fussy tester, but I've not done any real digging to see how bad it is around the sills and wheel arches. Didn't even think about the reservoir!

I was thinking more mechanical but I suppose as the cars get to this sort of age rust will become more and more of an issue (and very expensive to put right).

Where will you be getting a new front plastic panel from? Any idea on the cost?
