EGR - simple blank kits of 'full kit' ?
Im trying to work out the pro's / cons of the full EGR blanking kit (which seems to involve removing the connecting pipes and blanking both ends) vs the simple shims that just block off one end of the connection but leave the pipework etc in place (which cost a few pounds on ebay).
Can anyone shed any light on this ?
Im also assuming that in the case of the shim case you still need to disconnect the butterfly linkage and hold that open (or remove it completely)
Thanks in advance

you've sort of answered the questions yourself. I've never seen the point of removing the pipework, as blanking one end is sufficient. With either route, you do need to either remove, or fix wide open, the butterfly. I found it easier to remove the butterfly actuator link and fix the the butterfly wide open with a self tapper.

I remove it to get rid of these 2 pipes that can only restrict flow, and since they are no longer in use they may as well come out.
They take up about 15% of the ID of the inlet manifold.

Isn't it more a case of where you put either the full blanking kit or shims rather than differences between the product themselves? The £5 shims would seem to fit either at the end of the pipes, or, if the pipes were removed, then at the place where the pipes were originally connected.
Or is that completely wrong?PAGODA

the shims (blanking plates) that I've seen and used tend to fit at the bottom end only.
