Hi All,
Once again my search skills are proving useless.
I am looking for a new battery for the D3 and remembered seeing a thread on here that had info about the RRS TDV8 battery.
Not sure but i think it has better crank current/amperage and is a straight swap
If this is so does anyone know where to get one or am i just as well to get a qoute from TLO
Thanks,

Brian,
As I understand it LR have uprated the spec of the battery, so a new "std" replacement from your local stealership should be the spec you are thinking of.
Not cerrtain of numbers, but I believe changes over the original-fit are in the order of :-
Cold cranking ampage of 950a vs 825a
Capacity of 100aH vs 90aH

The battery I got from my local Land Rover dealer was a YGD500130 which is a 950 A (SAE) 90 AH battery which is made by Varta cost £120 and has a 3 year guarantee. Unfortunately TLO is unable to deliver batteries.

Yes, there seem to be some H&S issues with transport of wet-cell batteries. We have similar issues her in Oz. The Bearded Dragon

That's the old part number but here is the confusing thing, the new batts, part no as below, have the old part number on the top plate as the manufacturer had loads of top plates made up and didn't want to waste them!! According to a well placed source who fielded my "WTF is going on here?" question as the batt from this box has the YGD500130 part number on it!

Any ideas on the CCA of the VARTA 100Ah and the proper LR one? A Varta at £106 seems like a bargain...
And Tayna seem just a bit switched on - they even supply the batteries for the sunshine (Need a new one o' them round 'ere an' all! No - I tell a lie! There's the odd amp-hour left in the old currant bun, yet ) 06 TDV6 2.7litre (!) SE Tonga Green

950 CCA for the LR one rings a bell but I may be wrong! U got mine for £105 as car is over 3 years old and qualifies for Alligence discout, 15% ISTR on parts.

Thanks for all the replies guys, have just checked the Tayna website and the CCA for the 100Ah batt is 830A so i think i will check with local stealer.
Do seem to recall i will get a discount on parts as it is over 5 years old.
Thanks.

I got the TDV8 one from the dealer - but it fits the TDV6 tray. TDV8 is 950 Amps vs 825 for TDV6. TDV6 SE Auto, Cairns Blue, Club AT2, Club Lenser, Club Trangia, Club Labrador, Club Chainsaw, Club Yorkshire

What's this discount on parts for 3-yr old vehicles?? First I've heard of it! Who FROM?? LR or Tanya??
and why is http://www.tayna.co.uk/595901-Varta-AGM-Ul...P4368.html twice the price of http://www.tayna.co.uk/batterygroups/11/01...page1.html ?
Confused, of .. er, now, where do I live???... 06 TDV6 2.7litre (!) SE Tonga Green

LR stealers offer a discount on parts (self fit or they fit) & servicing for cars over 3 yrs, you also get a free MOT if done at the same time as a service. It's the Allegance discount, you have to ask for it but is quite a long running programme to stop you taking your car to an Indi for servicing. ISTR it's 15%, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
