What about the std Goodyear Wrangler HP?
Do you get the Wrangler AT/SA in SA?
Try the section on Wheels and Tyres on the D4. I am not sure if you are going to receive a response to your questions in this section.
I do not like the standard Goodyear HP. I have however used this tyre off road but that was on a 18" rim on the D3. I suspect you will battle with this tyre on the 19" rims when you venture off road. Kingsley Holgate fitted his 3 D4s with with Goodyear MT/R.

Hi All & Thanks for a great forum
I have owned my first Land Rover for the last 6 weeks and can honestly say this has returned the joy of motoring to me. Wondered about the Peragrin people refered to but now I know first hand
I found this forum just after taking ownership and read it almost daily and found that the knowlege and willingness of the members to help one another is second to none.

Hi all from Massachusetts, USA!
I just returned from a tour in Iraq for OIF 09-11 with the US Army. I've been looking for a vehicle to replace my 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe and had never considered a Land Rover (though I loved the old Defender models) until my uncle in N.I. bought one. I had a chance to test drive a 2007 LR3 in Santa Fe, NM with my dad a few weeks ago and was extremely impressed with its capabilities. I saw plenty of the newer Defender models in Iraq so decided to explore Land Rover a bit more.
Long story-long I test drove one a week ago this past Monday (09 August) and bought it this past Monday (16 August) and am loving it already. It's a 2008 LR3 HSE. After exploring this site the last day or so I see a lot of upgrades I'm thinking about to improve my LR3's off-road capability. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions so please be patient.
I also am restoring (are you ever done?) a 1952 Willys M38 Army jeep. I don't plan to set that up for heavy off-road driving but I certainly plan to drive it on and off-road. I also do a lot of historical things, play rugby, scuba dive, camp, etc. Looking forward to getting my LR3 set up nicely for off-road surviving.

Thanks for the help in registering Martin,
I've just joined the forum as a non owner after spending many an hour scrolling thru the posts.
Absolutely fabulous forum for someone like me who is shopping for a D3.
I was directed to you through a good friend who has not long since signed up to D3 ownership and used the forum to help him make purchasing decisions.
I am looking for an early D3 (to keep the road tax down) and have recently found two examples in a dealer near me.
1. A 04MY seven seat base model @ £13995 with 56k
2. A 06MY five seat base model @ £15295 with 75k
Both have FSH, warranty and are v clean.
All I am looking for is a 4x4 for caravan towing to cope with the odd excursion onto a farmers field.
Would welcome advice as to whether it is worth even considering the 5 seat model? Couldn't find much info about it on the world wide web! Is that 'cos no one has them
Understand it has HDC and Hi/Lo ratio. Does it encounter less problems without TR and air suspension?
Thanks
