Hi all,
This has been discussed on a number of threads and I’m not trying to re-invent the wheel here, just thought I’d put everything in one place for future reference. I acknowledge the majority of the procedures are not my own invention and credit is due to the forum members who have posted contributions in a number of threads. The pictures are all from my installation (unless otherwise acknowledged) on a UK spec MY 08 HSE, but item locations and/or fixings may vary depending on spec.
Please note that I am simply an enthusiast, with no training at all in electrical or mechanical engineering and some of the methods and processes I have used may not be best practice by a long shot .
The document has been proofread a couple of times, but I would welcome any comments for the next draft...
The guide is here. Hope you find it useful

But thanks to you investing your free time, a lot more people are going to be motivated to do things which would otherwise appear difficult....

So all the screens have the venture and reverse cam input. Presumably its possible to buy the parts and with help from a magic box (Wiggs?) get them working. I assume also he could enable the aux input properly so you don't have to use the diagnostics screens.
Nice tutorial!

Hi mack,
not to date on all counts (enabling the inputs by buying the parts), but "knowing" (virtually) the tech guys on here it shouldn't be long I would guess...

Excellent work! A dog is truly man's best friend, Don't believe me? Well lock your wife and your dog in the boot of your car and 2 hours later open it and see who's happy to see you

Biz,
This is a great write up and very helpful.
You can see why I organised the group buy of ready made SMB RCA leads now!

Thanks all
John, yes, shame I had just missed the first lot when I got into the mod, wouldn't have gone down the DIY road but at least I gained the experience of making it

One thing I would mention is that on my '05 MY HSE, the wires for the audio connection were red, blue and white not red blue and black. They represented the same though - red = left channel, blue = right channel and white = ground.

PS for LHD (MY 2008 SE) the aux wire is located in the green connector
