| ABS panels on D4 commercial |
|
Has any one had a go at removing them? Even after a week finding it tricky to pull out of some junctions and would like to try and get the rear windows to open for the dog. All switches and window motors in place though looks like a part has been removed that was attached to the motor. Any one got a pic of a complete one?

Removed the panels from the rear passenger doors within half an hour of the Land Rover being delivered.
I took a large kitchen knife with a blade that wouldn't bend and worked along the top of the door until I could get enough to grip, then pulled them off. Big improvement. Would be good if the windows would open as well.

God knows what they've used on these!!
Must have used about 2 tubes of thick adhesive on each panel.
Do the car's have some extra trim around the doors?

Is the glass tinted as well??
I'd be interested in removing the panels when I get mine, be great to see some photos of with / without and ideally some idea of how it's fastened. In fact, any more info on this would be great. Gives me some ideas for planning that way.
Cheers
Steve

Me and a Mate finally got the off after much pulling and cutting.
Needless to say they won't be going back on now there in bits.
Steve the windows are tinted and they are very dark.
Just need to find out which bit is missing off the window motors.
Does anyone have a parts drawing for the rear doors??

You need 2 new window motors and the window frame trims, the motors that are fitted have an electrical connection part missing and the hole where it should sit is filled with screen bonding glue, ive a conversion to do the week after next.
Ill dig out the pictures ive taken and do a bit of a how to time depending.

I should also be most interested... particularly in the cost of the replacement 'car' trims to finish the window space.
I understood from a chap here in Northants that the connectors were both in place but that both were filled with Tiger seal (or similar) and that he had spent the time picking this out in order to get the windows working.
He did also comment that removal of the ABS panel was far easier with the windows working as this meant that he could apply pressure from the outside as well as tugging from the inside...
Will watch this with great interest and look forward to photos and any info.
Cheers

Pete, how did you get on with the conversion?
I would be interested in a cost for the window trims and any parts needed to get the rear windows to work.

A bit of info that I thought be of help... collecting my new new D4 commercial from the dealers tomorrow, with regards to the plastic window panels, the dealer got replacemnet trims in for me at a cost of £35 as they now have to be cut out, I can't comment if its a tricky job though as the guy doing my seat conversion did it for me!

No the original trims, so £35 for the pair seems about right! Disco 4 Commercial 3.0 TDV6, Stornoway Grey, 20" 10 spoke alloys , Sat Nav, Luxury Pack, DAB, Colour Coded
