So sorry AWD; I was concentrating on the unmarked police car behind me and checking I was legal (I don't know why; I always am but still I check ) when I saw your sticker. By the time I waved at you I did so through my privacy glass which wasn't too bright of me with hindsight!
I didn't spot your flash (oooerr) and didn't flash myself 'cos of said escort behind me, just in case they had time for a chat.
Hope you managed to get some speed up eventually; those draggy boxes with wheels behind the car do make it look really slow I know what you mean about the side wind though; had to fight that all the way down from Northumbria; was bad enough just on the car so must have been hell with the extra sail at your rear.
Hope you were heading for good weather, and I promise to do better next time! Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?

I never spotted the unmarked cop car
Yeah that side wind was a bi#ch, the van usually sits as good as gold even at 70.. was down to 55 when you passed and had to slow to 50 on the top of Birdlip hill..it was getting a bit hairy up there
I was just picking the van up from my sisters in Tewkesbury and taking it to Malmesbury for our pending holiday next week in Cornwall. 2007 TDV8 Java/Ivory, BAS mapped,

It's always hairy at birdlip, either 'cos of weather or crap drivers. Rarely sail through that section any more as there's usually some twonk doing some deadly overtake causing all and sundry to slam on the anchors.
That deep dip by the pub a handful of yards further on is awful too. Once spoke to an artic driver who was stopped in the bottom of the dip for speeding (55 in a 40 zone). After being lectured about not being able to stop ("I didn't hit you did I?") and finally booked, the over smug copper told him to move on as he'd caused a huge tailback. Nope, says the driver, I can't. I weigh 30 tonnes with all this steel, and if I'm not doing a good speed down this side then I'll never reach the top at the other. I'll have to wait for a tow now, this engine's not strong enough to do a standing start on a 1:4 hill.
Took 4 hours for the monster engined tow truck to turn up as it had to queue with the rest of the traffic, during which time the driver was eating his sandwiches and drinking from his thermos, switching between watching the copper loosing his smugness controlling the traffic and his rigs TV. Sometimes you couldn't make it up.
Have a damned fine holiday, and hope you don't get stuck behind Captain Slow in a caravan Dr. Ian Malcolm:
