| I Pod connection, deffinative answer? |
|
I've just been and bought one of them i Pod things and I want to connect it to the car stereo. I have the base line stereo but dispite looking around the forum I cant find a deffinate way of connecting the i pod to the stereo. Some of you say the back of the upper glove box others say the back of the centre console/ cubby box. I had a look in the glove box earlier and there doesnt appear to be anything there. Theres nothing at the back of the cubby box either. Any ideas? A previous owner has fitted the roof mounted DVD player which uses plays audio through the stereo if I press the aux button if that helps.
Thanks

Haha yeah, I'm a bit of a technophobe. I only bought it to cut down the number of cd's I'm lugging about.

I use this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kensington-33429EU...amp;sr=1-1
It charges as well as plugs into the auxiliary port at the rear of the centre console. The output is much better than a direct connection into the aux alone. 55-Reg Java Black SE, Conti Cross-Contact ATs, TorqTune (via TFC), Unlocked SatNav (via Wiggs), Nudge Bar/Driving Lamps/RAI (TLO), Front & Rear Lamp Guards (Steve), RLD Sump Plate, RLD spare wheel protector

Jump into the back seat. Take a look at the centre console. Below the air vents you'll find a spring-loaded lift-up cover. Behind that is the Aux input. Every silver lining has a cloud

Read my post here that confirms all the help I found on this site and adds a bit more hopefully if you wish to add a car kit.
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic53732.html?highlight=
I just printed the Ipod instructions and had the fitter make the Ipod conections at the same time as fitting the Parrot unit.
On mine there is a pocket between the lower 12V sockets. The Ipod sits in there with the excess Belkin wire beautifully and is quite concealed. It leaves the FF button in perfect reach from the driving position.
The small Belkin unit was found on Ebay for 5 pounds and it works well charging, pausing when the key is turned off and, with a small amplifier you can make the input volume match with the other sources so there is no big jump in volume when switching around.
It has made an enormous difference and I have to admit the base stereo sounds acceptably good so I am holding off other modifications for the time being.
Suggest also you buy the steering wheel stereo controls from TLO and fit them at the same time.
Good luck.
