Could the fault be provoked by something else?
Well if you were to believe the latest bulletin then no, if you look at the list of possible faults as per workshop manual then yes...see below
Turbocharger connections: water ingress, poor contacts
* Turbocharger actuator circuits short circuit to ground
** Turbocharger boost control A performance - signal amplitude greater than maximum
* Turbocharger actuator circuits short circuit to power
* Turbocharger actuator circuits high resistance
* Turbocharger actuator fault
* Turbocharger actuator control deviation above maximum threshold
The problem is that the workshop manual and latest bulletin have conflicting information...as per previous post if the wiring checks out ok, visually and electrically, the actuator rod isnt seized then suspect the turbo.

I need to replace the electronic actuator (??) it and was wondering about the part number of it. Woul love if it only is the actuator rod, but the mechanics are telling me that is the actuator itself. Can I but the actuator alone? Help greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Have a car in the wksp at the moment with faulty turbo - it appears to be stuck in overboost which results in limp mode problems, the usual fault codes and ENGINE FAULT on the dash.
I chose to remove the body for access as it gives more room and doe not take so long to swap turbo.

Turbo is well tucked out of the way and even with body off does not give the best access

I got a replacement NEW turbo from BEARMACH £890 PLUS VAT
Should hopefully have this fitted tommorrow

I just wondered if anyone could help me with this problem?
I have had the engine fault light flash up and then D3 went into limp home mode, couldn't drive over 50.I had the EGR valve replaced at main dealer, had one replaced earlier this year as well. When collecting car they did mention it may have a sticking turbo?? On two occasions engine fault has flashed up,once with power loss and once without. The time with power loss I stopped and restarted vehicle and all ok.Car nearly 118000, thinking maybe time to change as I have spent a fair bit on it in last couple of years.Do you think a new turbo would sort this out or could it be something else?It is due a service soon but reluctant to go ahead if about to sell.As you can probably tell I am not mechanically minded! Thanks.

Sorry but this was the first time for me and I was strongly advised to do body lift to have more access by several
LR engineers. Did whole job body off, turbo and body back on in 9 hours
Next time I will try the inner wing and stud drilling method.

Impresive 9 hours! mine was done without the body off( bolts not to rusty) in DSL's case the body came off, to much Tunisian sand apparently! A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2
