.............what have I done? Having owned and driven my Sorento all over Europe for the last five years ... oh and also Morocco ..........without a serious problem, just two or three punctures and a failed wheel bearing I decided it was time to change so have ordered a D4 BUT now I have read through these pages and wonder if I have done the right thing!
I loved the test drive and the V6 engine was so smooth, the cargo area is terrific for when we are tugging our Airstream and can shove some of the too heavy for the van equipment in the car BUT I am seriously getting worried about reliability............. LR assist may be good but not much use when you, the wife, the caravan and the Disco are miles from any where on the edge of the Sahara.
So should I swallow my pride and forfeit the deposit and go for the Landcruiser?
LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF

youve not made a bad decision.
I felt the same after ordering my D3 in 2006 - i'm still here - with a D3 and a D4...
you'll always hear about problems on forums, but most are minor and easily sorted if you do experience them..
no different from any other make really.... certainly more reliable than my previous merc. Duncan

Taken my D3 on 3 Tunisian trips and wouldn't want to use anything else. I run 2 D3s (D4 being just a facelifted D3) but also have a Jazz for SWMBO to pick me up from the dealers when either of the D3s decides to throw it's toys out the pram.
