STTs vs MTRs

Getting bored waiting for 18" Grabber AT2s appearing, thinking of 19" MTRs or 17" Cooper SSTs. Any thoughts on which would be better or is there not much in it? I have a set of 17" wheels so that would mean a set of very new Conti tyres looking for a home, however I'd need to get the MTRs with wheels. Any advice would be appreciated.

Where do we start. Basically it depends on the type of mud. I have witnessed both tyres get one up on the other in the same place at different times due to the mud conditions. I have SST on my 110 and its gone places in wet mud that you would not believe. The second you are in sticky mud they clog up, let the air out and it helps. The MTR tyre seems to clear its self better but the SST has sidewall grip so, well who knows go for looks. Oh the MTR is good for at least 38000 miles

Tx, good life would be great. Have also seen 245/70R17 WILDCAT MUD TERRAIN RADIAL SXT on Craddock's site as another option.

Decisions, decisions

STTs are more agressive than the MTRs, as a consequence much noisier on tarmac. As Andrew said the STTs don't clear out as readily as the MTRs but they're brilliant when conditions suit them, MTRs are a bit more of an all-rounder but will struggle for grip in places where the STTs will make it look easy

Ideally you'd have a set of both and fit them as needed Very Happy

One set is pushing the budget, th controller (wife) would not allow 2. Problem with conditions is that U don't know them until U get there! A good allrounder would seem to be the best option.

I'm looking at MTR's if I can find a good price. If you go this route, maybe we can get a discount for 10-off?

Just a thought... Wink

Now you're causing me problems! What shall I get for the RRS? This will be a set only for use offroad.
