The other day I drove down a 'green lane' ford and there were some bushes, not wood types but soft bushes. I took it VERY slow and the marks it left on the paint are terrible. Scratches that are at points down to a white colour! Is this normal? 2006 TDV6 S Auto, Buckingham Blue, for the wife and kids.

It can happen, depends on the bush. Brambles have hard spikes, thorns are soft. Gorse is the worst.
Always check IN the bush for other foreign objects, like barbed wire
Depends where you met her though, some bushes are nice and soft and you will just slide through without any damage Club 18 - 30 (I wish !!)

Seriously - I have never seen anyone down to the white - and I've seen some battlescarred motors at the SE Pub meet - I think you must have caught something like barbed wire. Steve N | 2008 TDV6 SE Auto | Was 2006 TDV6 S Auto | Club Tunisia | Am I Online?

When you say down to white it could just be lacquer dust lick your finger run it along the scratch if it dulls slightly its just the dust making it white , best way to “mask” it is to use a colour impregnated polish/wax

Paul, echo Ken's reply... if you can catch your fingernail in it, it's a scratch, if you can't it's a scuff in the laquer and should polish out (believe me, I've done some polishing in my time ) TorqTune

Paul I sympathise!
I posted last week about Devon lanes, when my new disco took a hammering and although it looked pretty bad it all polished out with a bit of elbow grease and a few coats of autoglym.
Hope it wasn't barbed wire.....?

Guys
Thanks for the replies. It is not as bad as I first thought. I had a rub and it is just surface scratches so I need a good polish to get rid of it all. Any ideas from your experience what will do the job well?
Thanks

I've had good results with:
http://www.bilthamber.com/autobalm.html
It's non abrasive and easy to use. Worked a treat on my D2 which was black and seemed to scratch really easily.
If paintwork is really bad, I can also recommend the clay that they sell. It removes embedded muck but is not too coarse.

Try something like Mer first, if they are scratches that you can put your nail in then you will need a G3 cutting compound but as said it is aggressive, all polishes remove some paint but this can be very abraisive in the wrong hands. DS3 TDV6 HSE
