just arrived in Grantown on Spey for holiday. drove up from Stockport in convoy with my mate in his 110 Defender TD5, both towing 21ft twin axle caravans, with 5 persons and luggage in each car. We both filled up at the start, and stayed together until we refuelled at Pitlochrie. D3 took 61 pounds worth, TD5 Defender took 60 pounds. My trip computer said 20.5 mpg. I expected the Defender to be more economical, as its a manual. Club 18 - 30 (I wish !!)

I would have thought a disco3 should be more economical than a defender, even with an auto box. Seems a bit of a poor doo if it's not.
