I have started Biz's inexpensive av mod. However when I have plugged in the SMB lead into the back of the Sat Nav screen the video input testing screen is still saying that there are no video inputs fitted.
Am I doing something stupid?
Does it need some video played through the lead to detect it?
I have plugged my ipod in with an AV lead but don't have any video on it, just pictures. Should these show up on the screen?
Any tips greatly received!!!!

it wont show that any thing is fitted ...thats something that only comes up when the correct device is fitted and its been enabled in the ccf file
It needs the appropriate black box to be pressed ...only then when its full screen and you have something comming down the cable will it show G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks again.
I have checked the vehicle configeration screen and the companion camera says "01000000" and I don't seem to be able to change it.
Questions:
1) Is there a way that I can change this or not?
2) If I can enable it, how do I?
3) If I have to change this number what do I change it to?
I suspect this is something I need to get someone else to do isn't it? If it is then I wish I hadn't bought the SMB plugs from Hong Kong and spent a couple of evenings making the leads!!

2, enable the companion cam and its associated parts

You dont need to change anything ...if your using the diagnostic mode to view the video / ipod
Plug in your smb connector ..then press the corrosponding test screen ...as long as you have a feed , the pictures will show . G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Oh right.
So I don't need to worry about enabling the companion cam etc if I am just watching through the diagnostic screen. I am only trying to watch video off my ipod through the diagnostic screen and it is still not coming up.
Hmmm. Maybe I haven't got the SMB plug quite right. I might start again and try to put a new SMB plug on the lead.
Strange but thanks for al your advice Wiggs.

No worries
Just make sure you plug in the right colour connector for the appropriate screen
Green - tv
brown - reversing cam
tan - companion cam G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Hi Drtaylor just seen your post and noticed you say you have no video on your iphone just pictures, on my cable I will only get an output if there is video playing on the phone it does not show pictures or screen shots, maybe it is the lead I am using but you could double check the output from the phone on your tv if you havn't already done so. As wiggs said if your using the diagnostic screen to watch on, it should be plug and play.

although there are dozens of other threads on the TV,DVD etc - this one seemed to be the most appropriate for my question 
friends D3, 2005, with SatNav; added 3rd party DVD player connected into green connector (TV). Through satnav diagnostic screen - the video input signal is there. Then I've tried to enable the TV button on the main screen (did it through modifying CCF ) - now I have the TV button visible on the main SatNav screen but it is shaded and does not seem to be active. Is there anything else in CCF that needs to be activated or any addition hardware/box is needed to make it active? 2007 Disco III SE - TDV6, Auto; club Faultmate MSV2
1998 Disco I - 3.9 V8 - Auto (mud vehicle) - now runs with Megasquirt ECU and EDIS8 ignition

the tv icon is only for the factory tv tuner not an aftermarket one .
if you were to fit the LR tv tuner and antenna amps the button would work .
it needs to see the tuner in the MOST loop for it to work G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
