Took mine to Snow this w/e but snow was lousy so went for a drive. Accross the Murray River twice to Victoria. more fun than the skiing!
Went with a Toyota driver next day, he gotr further up a steep muddy incline than me, but he had muddies on. We went round up the grass and he sat there spinning, i picked a steeper bit and went straight up.
He said he wouldn't get anything but a Toyota, but I think he was secretry impressed.
Drove beautifully on and off road, handled like dream on twisty mountain roads and hauled easily up to daed horse gap from the murray river (470m up to 1500m in 30km!
relaxing and stress free driving, Thredbo to Sydney with only a fuel stop and arrived refrehed and relaxed.
Highly recommend to all who listen.permagrin permanent feature now.

So major issues then Glymmer_Man, sorry to hear that.
I wonder how they compare to VW I had a realy bad time with them over a Golf diesel, they kept telling me: 'it is normal for car, it was how I drove, German diesels are different, I obviously am not used to driving a diesel.'
VW had the attitude that it is aGerman car and they don't go wrong. Two letters to MD of VW Aust. Even after telling the dealer she would contact me directly all I got was a form letter from the 'customer relations' dept.
Eventually had a solicitor prepare a letter of demand and just before it was sent the dealer got them to replace it. Dealer was great went into bat for me and gave me a loaner for the time when I was claiming a replacement.

This was the history
6 September 2005
Vehicle was collected.
The same day, I returned the vehicle to the service department of Bill Buckle Auto Group and noted my concerns about a vibration and hesitation at low rpm.
I was told that the engine may need to settle in and to return the vehicle if the problem persisted.

21 September 2005
Vehicle was returned to the service department as a result of a whining sound coming from the turbo noted above. As a result the service department performed a “software upgrade” on the vehicle.

24 October 2005
Vehicle returned to the Dealer, as a result of blowing smoke upon start up and experiencing a flat spot when accelerating.

2 November 2005
Vehicle returned to the service department again for another “software upgrade”.

9 November 2005
Vehicle returned to the service department as a result of a vibration issue.

16 November 2005
Service department replaced the clutch packs to DSG gearbox.

15 February 2006
Service department replaced the turbo and performed another “software upgrade”.

16 March 2006
Vehicle returned to the dealers, Bill Buckle, as a result of continuing to experience the flat spot and the vehicle blowing smoke.

17 March 2006
Service department replaced the air flow meter and the tandem pump was also replaced.

28 April 2006
Non return valve replaced.

5 May 2006
Bill Buckle’s, test drove the vehicle and noted the shudder.

29 May 2006
Returned the vehicle again, in order to replace the gear box.

31 May 2006
Gear box replaced and vehicle test driven for two days by Volkswagen Australia

6 June 2006
When I go to collect vehicle from Bill Buckle’s, and I was informed of damage to the front bumper and grill. (Please note, was informed the incident occurred during the test drive).

9 June 2006
Front bumper and grill replaced on the vehicle.

27 June 2006
Vehicle was test driven by Peter Holland and a Volkswagen technician.

28 June 2006
Symptoms continue to worsen, ie erratic gear changes, no response to throttle then sudden surge when trying to accelerate, shudder continuous on hills.

What I have found with LR is they are aware of issues and are finding solutions. VW have no idea, even the dealers service managers are in the dark. VW technical cannot even contact the regional HQ in Singapore to find out about issues and contacting Germany is a hanging offence.
Let us know how you get on with LR, lets hope they listen better than VW.
