Firstly appologies for the intrusion into the Disco forum, but seeing as the Disco also has surround cameras I thought It would be relevant here as well.
Is there any way to record the feed from the 5 surround video cameras? 11 FFRR: Autobiography Black

If you can capture the signal coming from the nav unit to the LCD display. You would certainly have to take the main nav unit apart. I think there are products out there that can capture whatever is displayed on your touch screen and output as RCA signal. TJ

there is a camera module under the passenger seat . The small brown connector ( fakra /smb ) goes from there to the screen ...you could interupt the signal and split it off to some sort of digital recorder . You would have to have the cameras you want to record set up on the nav screen first though G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

wiggs are you sure that that is the right connector, I thought that was on the D3 and the D4 use a new connector, cannot remeber the name off had,but have been trying to get plug/cable for a while with no joy. Do you have access to these plugs/cable? MY12 D4 HSE

i have a camera module here ...there are 5 coloured connectors for the 5 cameras , a green plug for power and canbus and the brown fakra ( as mentioned earlier ) is the out put to the screen .
The screen does not have a fakra connector any more ( well not for the camera ) it has a 6 pin plug
Rosenberger is the name of the camera connectors

I was after doing the same thing, trying to split the cable to the screen with a view to putting it into a recorder of some sort, any ideas? MY12 D4 HSE

make up a small lead ...male fakra / smb on one end to go into the camera module ...female on the other to take the original plug to the screen .
Cut the cable in half , and join in an extra pair of wires with a female RCA connector on it .
That way you dont need to cut any of the cars plugs . G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Won't that be sending some sort of digital multiplex signal to the screen? All the camera outputs are available on the screen at the same time, so even if there was some control protocol to the box under the seat I don't think it outputs composite video.

The connector out is not a digital one ....and the wiring diagram shows is not digital either .
If you want to test the therory , get one of these leads from the shop http://www.disco3.co.uk/shop/index.php?act...oductId=34
Bring up whatever cameras you want on the screen , unplug the brown single connector from the camera module , and plug in the lead ...other end to a screen of some discription . G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Please let me know how you get on so that I can test on the ffrr.
Surely if you splice out the feed straight from the cameras then they will still be live regardless of whether the nave screen has them showing. 11 FFRR: Autobiography Black

Wiggs will that lead fit the camera module as the plug looks diffrent, cannot check as my car i still in dealers having third turbo fitted after the replacment was faulty on fitting  MY12 D4 HSE
