United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Had this issue with mine a couple of weeks ago.
After testing the battery i went and bought another, installed it and all was well for 5 mins, then back to Low Power Mode.
Charged the battery for around 24 hrs and all was well again for a while, but then Low Power Mode strikes again.
Any idea's
It's an 05 '55' plate.

Does this mean a new alternator now ?

Martin

Just done 900 miles to NE France, no return of LPM. That might be coz I have an alternator in the boot ready to go on. Whistle

Hi Martin,
Either your alternator is cactus or there is a short.

I remember the good old days, whenever we had an electrical problem with a car we took it to an autoelectrician. Now, it seems, we take it to the forum. Whistle

Best Wishes,

Matt,

I had the exact same problem a couple of weeks ago on my DIII & it is the alternator. I had the battery checked out & whilst it was receiving some charge from the alternator it was not getting full charge hence alternator diagnostics confirmed & a replacement was fitted.

Martin,

Had the same problem also had the issue that the battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a week (working away at the mo). Bought an alternator and had it fitted. New altenator=no more low power issues.

Guess its my turn for this now Big Cry , over the last few days I have been getting LPM come up intermitently after a few mins at high power, no other signs yet, heated seats came on this morning but haven't tried the screen. Need to measure the alternator voltage later and see what that is kicking out.

And to make it worse, I've only just sold my spare alternator a few months ago Censored Censored Big Cry

Are all alternators the same for the D3 regardless of year?

Another thought, I was just in for my 105K service, is it possible the fan belt isn't tight enough?
