help....flashing lights and bells ringing...non starter |
|
trouble and strife has just phoned to say, when she was dropping her friend off home, the friend opened passenger door and lights started to flash and beeps/bongs started........wife turned off engine, and when she tried to restart there appeared to be no power in battery, as there was no lights on dash, headlights wouldn't come on etc....
anyone any ideas....tried taking - and + connections off battery and leaving it for 5 mins......still no joy

A lot of times when the alternator dies, the plates inside the battery warp due to a high discharge level, and never hold a full charge again
Might be lucky as the car never actually cut out so the battery may not be damaged. Replace the alternator, charge battery and go from there My D3 Build Thread

had same problem 2 weeks ago got stuck in Wales, AA came out and said it was alternator, came back home on back of lorry! got it booked into my local garage and they found it to be the battery a cell had gone down, still had the original one on it (55 plate) fitted new uprated battery and all is fine, garage said that when battery goes down alternator can get hot.
