Engine Warning Light - where's the OBD port?
Hello,
Help much appreciated.
The engine warning light has come on for the second time since I've had the car (2 years) - the first time was about a year ago and it cleared when I turned the engine off and back on again, this time it's staying on.... No misfires, seems to be running fine, hasn't gone into 'limp home' mode. I had a subaru before that used to do this a fair bit but eventually the light always seemed to clear.
I see OBD2 readers are pretty cheap now so wondering about buying one and plugging that in before a trip to the garage but no idea where the port is - anyone know?
Thanks in advance.

The port is just above your right foot when it's on the fast pedal.
It's debatable whether a cheap generic code reader will tell you very much about a D3 though TBH Clive

Thanks Clive.
Should the light eventually go off if there's no ongoing fault or is it on until it's turned off now?

I think it depends on the actual fault, I'm no expert but I'm sure someone better informed will be along soon though.Clive

I've recently sold my cheap generic code reader - does that help your thinking

Not cheap but a Faultmate FCR will do you nicely, reads all D3 codes and you can reset/clear them too, currently £260ish i think from sponsors here:- Pete Bell aka Bell Auto Services or BBS SPY aka Blackbox Solutions
A worthy bit of kit,and will get you out of stook when the car throws its toys out the pram once in a while

I have one - bought from Pete. Definitely worth getting. Helped me sleep at night when I got an engine system light in the cold and it told me it wasn't CFT!
Also worth getting so you can reset your FBH and it will easily pay for itself in trips to the dealer for diags. 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
