| Dodgy inflated valuation? |
|
Just been updated on status of my ordered HSE- bit of a delay due to mixup in spec- can live with that. Understood could be a depreciation in trade in value for my D3 HSE, but 6 weeks down the line my car is now worth £1500 less... The dealer has said they would guarantee this valuation for when I pick up my new car, but the cynic in me wonders if the deal was literally too good to be true when the order was placed. I suppose I'm not used to buying a car from factory order with a waiting list.
Any thoughts?

Yes tell them you want the deal that was agreed and stop trying it on “I know what everybody is saying… they always say it… I’ll have a second cockpit put on the next Bluebird and we’ll see how many of the bastards want to come out for a ride.” - Donald Campbell

Over a year ago now but I was given a trade in price in Jan on my D3 for collection March - based on a assumed mileage - I then had to put a lot of miles (about 7K in 2 months due to work) - spoke with dealer and they where OK as long as I didnt go over a specific mileage - which I didnt
Worth a challenge me thinks

From what I've heard D3 values have been "softning" by that sort of amount. Crazy values couldn't remain with snow a distant memory and fuel prices at these levels.

Just remind them that if you pull out of the deal it will cost them £1500 to find a new buyer.
Don't budge, you've already made the deal

When you ordered your new motor, and agreed a PX price, all that will be on the Invoice. That will show Purchase Price - Px Valuation = Balance to pay (or finance).
Tell them to sling their hook, its a legally binding contract, unless they take your D3 now and supply you a courtsey car in the interim.

When I went to trade my G4 in on a D4 I was given 2 prices ... One to buy a car there and then and one to buy a new car with a 3 month build date .
Ordered a new one and they signed to say they would take my car when new one is built ( even if it's delayed )
So basically I know what I'm getting ... I can bung as many miles as I want on the car .. They will still pay the agreed price G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Hmm- yes checked mine today on said site and it came out much less than 6 weeks ago too. I think today's valuation by dealer fair but end of march's overegged. Just disappointed and slightly suspicious that the enticement was there in the form of a v high trade in value. It was mentioned when order placed that value would be reassessed and the figure of £500 mooted based on an 8 week wait.. Maybe the march figure was inflated by the bad winter weather?
