Hi Pete and Yorkie - well, as per my previous post, tried the FBH again (several times) and a definite no go. Next step for me is to check the resistance of the coolant pump motor windings, the workshop manual states it should be 10 (+/- 1) k Ohms.
FYI - There's a similar discussion running here:

Hi Pete and guys!!
I had ordered the BAS-kit, since there was no life in my RRS -06..
I have recently bought the car, and the seller said that it worked..
Well well, my brothers FBH didn´t work on his, D3, but after fitting the
BAS-kit, and doing some priming it went like a rocket..
I was a little curious to see if it would do the same magic in my car,
and didn´t have the patience to wait for it to arrive...
I arranged a rendez-vouz with Brother (Sinbad58) on neutral ground, and
told him about my crazy idea..
Said and done, he fell for it..
My idea was as follows:
We connected the cars with jumpercables, to get a siamese-electric-system.
Disconnected the "data-socket from brothers FBH, inserted a thin electrical cable
in socket #2 on his connector.
Connected the other end in my vacant #2 socket in my, attached connector..
Crossed our fingers, and pressed the "start"-button on the "plip"..
Nothing.....but after about 5 seconds, my FBH roared to life..
Success!!!!
After letting it run for a few minutes, we stopped it, disconnected everything, and
started the car. FBH started by it self.. Ran for a few minutes, then stopped..
Tried a few times that evening and the FBH started, and ran for a few minutes, and stopped..
Last sunday we were at a gathering with the local L/R-Club, and there we did the "docking-procedure" again, and let the heater go for a full cycle of 45 minutes..
The FBH didn´t start on it own later that day..
Today I picked up a parcel at our UPS-depot, and about one hour later I had a FBH-kit
installed in my car..
It was "easy-peazy" to install..
Now I will have a warm and nice car when going to work..
Cheers

Well - the saga continues.
Finally checked the resistance of the coolant pump (should be 10K ohm) and it was 10.3 so well within manufacturer spec.
Next step (think CAV is too expensive for me at this time) is to take the FBH out completely and strip it. Not sure when I'll get the time so it could well be next winter before I see any benefit

Fitted my remote FBH controller. A press of the remote and it fired straight up, couldn't beleive it. But then cut out. Did a fuel purge cycle, restarted the heater, loads of smoke and away it went a full 30 min burn.
What an easy and straight forward install. This is a great piece of kit. No more sitting in a cold car on these frosty mornings.

I'd like to fit one of these - but does rather rely on a working FBH - which mine is knackered Mark.

Morning All. FBH been working great since fitting remote controller last week. But this morning it will not keep running. It fires up and runs for about ten seconds then goes out. It does this on all three attempts. Have retried it about a dozen times, with no luck. Any ideas? Thanks 2006 SE. Java Black.

Perhaps worth trying some cleaning agent in the tank then purging it through a few times.
