Any family friendly lanes near Harlech?

We're off to Harlech tomorrow for a week. Can anyone suggest any lanes in the area and down towards Abersoch?

Thanks. Nick

There is a nice lane overlooking Barmouth Bay. Think I have some photos in my gallery. Will try and get some more details before the nights out.

The lane is called Bomber Lane. you will need OS Landranger 124 Grid Ref SH 601073. This is a photo overlooking the bay. If you get the weather the veiws will be superb. Drove this lane a couple of times and this is as good as its been. There are a few gates and cattle grids and it is about 6 miles long. You get to it off the A493 look for a sign for some lakes (cant think of the name of them). At the lakes there is a car park so you could park up for a lunch or something. Drive past the lakes through a gate or 2 then you come to a "T" junction turn right through another gate and turn left. This is the start of the lane

Hope this helps

OS Grid refs are SH588 072 to SH656 133. Its a great scenic lane, with loads of gates. The view over Barmouth is stunning if the weather is good.

Do you know why its called Bomber lane? There is a plaque on the wall at approx SH639 119 (just after you come out of the trees and start descending the long hill down to the end.) which remembers a world war 2 USAF bomber which crashed there. Also known as the Barmouth Loop.

Other lanes in the area are Happy Valley which might be a bit severe for inexperienced. There is a lane across the golf course at Abersoch, but its usually busy with Mondeo's trying to follow sat nav to the campsite Laughing
