I called nav-tv a couple of weeks ago and they are bringing a new product to market which seems to be a complete solution, and will Leo have capability to connect a reversing camera. I have asked to be put on their mailing list so now just waiting for details on final price and availability. I'll update this post as soon as I have an update

Hi Dosi Dad, any news on this?

I just gave them a quick call, and appears to be a non-started as they had a minimum order requirement of 2500+ units to make it financially viable, for them to proceed. Previously for the older unit they had large volume orders from Alpine, but due to lack of take up there isn't the margin in it for them to bring the product to market.

Really gutted myself as that seem to be the only solution I have found that has the full ipod/touchscreen integration I was looking for. Crying or Very sad

I got a griffin autopilot today from PC world, there was a few for the IPod for £34.99 and this tatty old box at the back, returned goods, for the Iphone, came to £10.99, bargain.

I didn't really believe it, but what a difference it makles, well recommended.

Hi Andrew/All,

with the Griffin connected to the Aux socket, if connected to an i-phone, will the Bluetooth handsfree (phone) still work ok through the car speaker/controls etc?

Thanks,

Neil.

The Harmon Kardon Drive + Play. E-bay £25.0 approx
I had one installed in my D3. the obvious advantage being the iPod style display and controls. (See pics in my gallery) It also charges various iPods. Mine's a 1st generation Touch. I also had the LR ACM unit which I connected the Drive + Play to, so I had full conectivity through the normal sound system and used the volume controls on the steering wheel. it worked great. Because it was connected through the ACM unit the sound was automatically muted when receiving a phone call.

Hi SJ,

thanks for the response, was hoping to find out whether the Griffin allows Bluetooth phone connection when also connected to the iPhone via the Aux socket; anybody any ideas?

Thanks,

Neil.

Toddy:
I use a griffin unit to connect my iphone 3gs (bit of a pain having the aux socket at the back of the console!) and my phone connects phone calls through the LR bluetooth unit built into the car.
Both work simultaneously and the music is paused by the phone when a call comes in or if I dial using the steering wheel controls or voice dialling built into the car.
I think this answers your question?
The only issue I have with the griffin is some high pitched whistling when it's charging which seems to vary with the stupid illumination around the centre of the griffin unit. I need to try and find a suppressed audio cable to see if this helps.
Ken.

Hi Ken,

thanks, that's great. Will try a Griffin and can let you know if we also get the charging, high pitched whistling.

Toddy.

So how about this...

I want to be able to control my ipod using the steering wheel controls, but also see what is playing etc. Could i get the Land Rover ACM, to allow me to control my ipod, and get the Apple Composite AV cable to give me the video out option, and allow me to see what is playing/watch movies on my nav screen?

My problem at the moment is both the ACM and the Video cable want to plug into the bottom of the ipod, so i need something like this that works with an ipod to allow me to plug both in.

Can anyone see what i am trying to do here, or see any problems?

Ken,

the Griffin is great and no 'high pitched whistling' when charging (radio on, or off).

As you said, the iPhone can simultaneously be used to make/receive calls via the LR-D3 Bluetooth.

A great gadget, thanks.
