disco 4 tachograph

Good morning everybody

I have bought a 59 reg Discovery 4 which I use for towing full time. because it is a 59 reg I have to have a digital tachograph fitted, I have been told that the discovery 4 already has the necessary wiring in place and would only need to buy the digital tachograph head.

Can anybody advise on this? Would appreciate any info

Kind regards
Derek

I have searched every thread on the forum regarding the fitment of the unit in the cab but cannot find any definitive answers. The only method I've come across is attaching it to the roof behind the light panel, that sounds like it requires a certain amount of butchery?

hi the d4 is "compatable" with a digital tacho as the wiring loom has been adapted however its not just a plug and play affair. The tacho unit itself should come with the necessary cables if not my understanding is that these can be bought from LR (the cable that it).

Obviously the units has to be calibrated by a VOSA approved workshop although most people get such a place to source and fit the whole thing at the same time, that said the unit should be "within easy reach" for the driver but of course the D4 is a lot harder to place so my view might be to have it installed in the upper glovebox and temp take off the flap as I've seen in both D3/D4's but of course its your decision after taking advice from your local VOSA approved installer Whistle
