I would definately get bushes and ball joints looked at, that doesn't sound right, I feel like I'm driving a rather graceful magic carpet when I'm in mine and I live in the mountains where an A road causes the family to point and take photos!
I hope you manage to get it sorted and return to getting great pleasure out of it All the best.

What rims/tyres do you have fitted? 22 inch rims do not really improve driving comfort. From a picture in your gallery it looks like you have low-profile tyres. If so, these have a negative impact on how your car reacts to potholes and uneven roads.
My 2 cents.

The profile pic is just a stock avatar. I'm on standard Pirelli Scorpions. Not the fattest, but not low profile.
Good thinking though.
I had a reputable indi drive it and he said it feels fine and said "compared to a RRS it's a magic carpet!".
But the ride is odd really as it wallows about over anything reasonable and the tyres have some good sponge to them, I think it's bushes. They may not be 'gone', but at approaching 7 years old, maybe the time is approaching and I'm just feeling the ill effects of old bushes. Nov 04 D3 TDV6 HSE Java Black Cream Leather

Called two indie's but both want to give it a health check before identifying if or what needs to be changed.
Having the biggie 7yr service with belt change due in Jan, I may need to save up for that first! Nov 04 D3 TDV6 HSE Java Black Cream Leather

At 7 years old it will definately need the lower front arm bushes and probably the rear upper arm bushes.
My car is 6 1/2 yrs old (80K miles) and has had new wheel bearings and arb bushes in the last month, The garage has confirmed it also needs new front arm bushes. It is quite common on these cars at between 60-80K miles. Also recently had new track rod ends inner and outer. That made a huge difference, but can still tell the bushes are wayward. D3 V8 SE AUTO

I must say that I just don't recognise your fear of potholes at all and agree with previous posters that it isn't "normal". When I compare my D3 to previous cars, I'd definitely prefer the D3 for rough surfaces.
A BAS remap is well worth the money
Incidentally, some jokers removed the fences around a massive trench in the road that I then hit at 20mph. The D3 certainly bucked but no lasting damage. I daren't think what would have happened if I'd been in my previous eurobox. VIN: A175A328*** Bought at 43k Now on 56k

Ditto. Mine is an 05 S manual with 102k on the clock. Bushes and ARB done at 90,000 along with decat, Allisport intercooler and BAS remap.
It has always driven well but now drives even better. It was wearing 18 inch AT2 but now has Mickey Thompson STZ on. I hustle it along the lanes where i live and it's brilliant which is why it is hard for me to justify spending and losing more money on a D4.

aathey must have graded all the dirt roads since I got the D3 there don't seem to be any corrugations on them anymore. "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"
