| New battery time.. what do you suggest |
|
I need a new battery and can't decide if I should just head down to the local stealer and buy a geniune replacement or if there is something better out there?
Its a MY 05 and still on the geniune battery but is now running down if I leave the radio on for less than an hour while working in/on/around the vehicle - so I figured changing it before the cold weather would be wise.
Suggestions please

Just go for Gen LR one. You should ask for allegiance discount and it's only a few £ more than halfrauds cheapies. How To ? - Change your Brake Disks Pads Shoes Sensors August 2011 NEW V1.6a
Clubs MTR – MANTEC – RAI – Traxide – Engel - Tree Sliders

worth also getting the dealer to check the alternator is working fine now that it getting dark early otherwise you're in for another battery on top of the one you've just bought.
As mentioned, go for OEM LR one however you may find that the negative lead will need changing as well coz the terminal is smaller on the upgraded battery (now recommended ) than the original factory fit one you have

Cheers for the advice guys... I have to go to the stealer tomorrow to buy a stop light bulb anyhow, so can kill two birds with one stone. Good avice there on the terminals Character, that will save some hassle.

another quick fix would be to wrap some copper wire around the battery terminal before sighting the lead on to it - also make sure the leads are OVER the terminal with the head showing, best use a toffee hammer
the lead is only about £16 but unlikely they will have one in stock

How long is a battery supposed to last?
I've had my Disco 2 for 7 years and it's coming up to 10 years old and just over 94k and it's still on it's origonal!
I've cursed it now though haven't I.

the D3 demands on the battery are pretty high compared to your D2 reading on here 5/6 years is pretty commmon to change just changed mine on MY 05 and a few other minor niggles were solved at same time
the latest recommended battery for the D3 has a higher rating so should prove more dureable smoooooth steering wheel upgrade , wiggs D4 bluetooth upgrade
nav on move , auto handbrake release on an 05 manual !!!
3 flash indicators ,roof mounted dvd player, 4X4 info, xenons ,
LED side and interior lamp upgrade, side steps , new battery alternator and compressor "slimey front end" with headlight mod D4 rear lights ,the big service !!
oh and Adriatic beautiful blue

TFC recommended I change mine before the winter sets in (it had been changed for a non-oem one at some point in its life).....he,too said to get one from LR themselves as they are roughly the same price as everyone, and important to get the correct one... Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.
