As somone else as said if the steering isnt straight then you are more likely to notice this problem...get them to set thetracking with the steering straight. If your tyres are worn on edges or nearing limits then this can make it worse....infact when tyres are nearing limits on Disco 3s they have all kind of handling issues.

As soon as I let go of the wheel it goes. The tyres haven done less than 10k.

There is a difference between camber of the road drift, which goes away on a level road, (which I think many of you are talking about here) & a pull, even when on opposite camber.
If it pulls, them something needs sorting Wink

I had this - the camber version: fine on the flat, but drifting on a camber. It is VERY annoying.

An experienced LR technician at Guy Salmon sorted this for me, by swapping the wheels around from one side to the other.

I am running AT2s, and his explanation was that they are a very "flat" profile that get worn on one side by the camber. There were two good things about this:

1. it worked
2. it was free

I also agree that this is not a camber issue.

I have had a number of D3s and the first ones all had issues with tyre wear - uneven wear. The outer edge of the fronts would wear uneven - like a saw tooth every other tread would raised. If you run your fingers over the tread you can feel it. I checked many other cars i saw at the dealer to see of they had it - and found on many models inc ffrr.

rears wore on the inside edge - same symptoms.

This causes road noise - bit like a diff or faulty bearing. Cause was suspension/alignment settings - and after getting this done there was vast improvement.

Pulling to the left or right i also noticed with this.

My current model a 2009 drove straight from new. Then last year in the snow i reversed backwards slowish-10mph max, on snow/ice and hit the brakes. ABS cut in. From that moment on car pulled right (lhd in europe). Shortly afterwards i noticed uneven tyre wear on the right hand side front as described above.

Finally got round to giving it to the garage to realign - 4 wheel whilst in tight mode - when they reported front lower bushes have play and also track rods (not ends)

Got these done and she drives straight again - and even under braking does not move. On roads with a lot of camber then its natural that the car will follow the camber a little but not pull out of the lane.

So I would say steering rack could be cause - check rods not just track rod ends for play/wear and of course bushes. I find the 4 wheel alignment crucial to the overall drive and tyre wear and its worth doing quite regular if you drive on rough roads, mount curbs or go off road.

If youre replacing front bushes - strongly recommend the superpro (and no we dont sell them - yet anyway Smile)

3 pages and no mention of tyre pressures!

The freelander 1 suffered from "blocking" on the rear tyres and later models had the tyre pressures raised to help reduce it.
 D3 for daily driver, towing, mud and snow

I adjusted all of my tyre pressures at work as my n/s/r tyre had gone down and we were looking for a puncture, but couldn't find anything. They were all reset and it drove home exactly the same as it did on the way in.

I finally got round to curing this last weekend. I had a slow puncture so went to work and it was unreliable (nearside rear). I out my spare on and swapped the other rear to the other side. Went to do the fronts, got one off and the nearside locking wheel bolt had split so would only move the top half. Went to a tyre place for a new rear tyre and got the nearside front wheel off and swapped the ont tyres round which has cured the problem. The only time I go to the left is camber and only very slight. Worth swapping tyres over sided to side for this to see if it cures it. N visible signs of excessive tyre wear, so who knows why

There is a TB on this with early models, I had two new rear tyres and Rear axle was re-aligned, problem soved.
19" tyres and over have a tendency to wear concaved, this magnifies any fault, I have found when 19" tyres are fitted and they are 50% or more worn increasing the pressure by 3/4psi both improves the stearing and ruduces tyre rumble.

Anyone with this problem wants to drive a Freelander 1 for a week, they will think they are in heaven when they get back into a D3. I had this problem with a then new Freelander had to drive with both hands on the right side of the wheel on a long journey.

Had the tracking re done by Elite Tyres New Road Dagenham, who use Hunter equipment. Result, Perfect! They did it while I waited, the guy doing it explained what and why, and how the gear worked. Took about 40 minutes, cost about £54.00. Best money that I've spent for years. no longer have to concentrate on where the car is wandering off to, it just keeps on going straight. I had new bushes fitted to the front today. After doing the wheel alignment the dealers could not get the "left drift" sorted. They changed the tyres all round in various iterations to get it almost right.
Now it feels like the car is driving on a bent chassis - crab like. It was perfect before. The new Wranglers has got 15000km's on it.

Me thinks that the LR alignment program has a bug or incorrect data...

I found the biggest change was after swapping the front wheels left to right. I had also made sure that the tyre pressures were correct too
