When in Access mode you can lock it into Crawl mode which locks the suspension in access height, useful in low roof car parks.

Normal is on-road

off-road is off road,

Once the suspension goes into extended mode, which it will do automatically when it senses it's about to ground out. You can then select Additionally Extended/Super Extended.

In theory you can select Motorway height but only by driving in excess of 100 mph which is probably not advisable in the UK.

Transportation mode can only be selected by a technician with the appropriate box of tricks and lowers the suspension for transporting on a trailer etc.

As to why some are selectable and others are not, I'm sorry I haven't a clue.

Can also be done with GAP-daignostics box of tricks! Wonder if it would help with avoiding wheel clamps? Evil or Very Mad
Hope blackboxsolutions find a way to activate this function other than deflate all? Whistle

Would locking the suspension in access height not allow a chance for a wheel change?
That's how I usually do it.

I did that last night, it seemed to help with the front (i.e. I didn't need to put as much height on the jack), but the rear still seemed to extend fully and needed jacking very high.

Also, even though it was locked in access height the suspension still adjusted itself a little, which I didn't expect.

I'm not a believer in the 'open the tailgate whilst changing the tyre to stop suspension moving' but for completeness Land Rover did publish this bit of advice for the D3. I still have a copy and I must get around to scanning it!

the P38 manual did say to leave a door or boot open from memory - and it actually did stop the suspension moving

Leaving the door or boot open on a D3 does not stop it self adjusting - it just seems to stop the manual adjustment of height using the selector.

I like the function when it rasies the back wheel for you so you only have to jack it a little.
