Found a wee light, what is it for?

Yesterday, I reached up to adjust the rear view mirror in my D3, and the back of my hand was illuminated by a blue light, which was coming from the front of the interior courtesy light fitting. Being a bloke, I have'nt dug out the still pristine and unused book of words in an attempt to find out what the light does, or why its there. My D3 is a bog standard GS spec, so I cant start to think what is for. (its only lit when I have my headlamps on).
Help me out folks.

I think they refer to it as 'mood or ambient lighting', designed to cast a subtle glow down towards the gear lever etc Thumbs Up

I noticed just after buying my D3 that when changing gear my hand seemed aglow with subtle light. I thought it was the moonlight shining softly down through the windscreen...

...not long after it suddenly dawned on me one night that it was cloudy outside. That was when I noticed the mood light in the roof fitting. Rolling Eyes

it is a "wee light", so should come in usefull on those dark camping evenings, after one has drunk too much beer Wink
