The wheel does not have to come off, just the air bag, but if you have switches with the voice control, and phone buttons etc then the back part will need to be cut so they fit, this can be done prior to getting the switches enabled.

ok let me clarify, if the switches are like for like replacement, i.e. with voice and phone, if you had them in the first place, then no cutting etc is needed, if you have gone for switches with the additional functions then cutting may be required.
