I've got the Land Rover jacking instructions in my gallery:

...but essentially you position the lifting pad of the jack in the centre of the recess in the engine undershield:
Although it is by far from essential I also have a rubber insert for my jack pad:
...which I swop out to the adaptor when I do the rears:

Robbie where did you get that rubber insert ? is it the one for the Sealy jack ? as its the only one I can find online ?

It's been a while since I got it but yes, I believe it was a Sealy jack pad. I think I called them to check the measurements and it was around 2 to 3mm too big for the Clarke jack. As it turned out it was a perfect (friction) fit and I am very happy with it. I had intended only to use it on the Wife's car but it's a perfect match for the centre recess under the front on the D3.
Again, it's not strictly needed as we are talking about metal to metal contact under the car; hardly something people look at but it does stop any marking.
