Which is the low pressure turbo hose .. I am guessing the one that runs over the top of the radiator and goes down right.
I will have a look at the oil level in the morning.
I can't see it being the wear in the pulley - the belt was changed at the service also.
As you say james it is a 'load' issue.
The engine revs OK in netural - ticks over fine. Starts fine. Runs OK until it gets just to the ' > ' at the bottom of the temp guage. Then this judder appears. 1500 - 2000 rpm is most noticable. Which is of course 70mph in 6th!
It is made worse - more noticable with the horse trailer attached.
Ian ..so what can I fiddle with today that ain't broken ...?

It's the widest hose [low pressure] ; thin one is high pressure [goes to intercooler].
Check the hose clamps on the wide hose  VIN A146A395xxx 201.000 Km's. DEFA heater. LR_V8 -frontdiscs

Unashamed bump I'm afraid. Symptoms are still persisting, have checked out the accessible hoses with no obvious fatigue. Any more luck Ian or ideas from the floor?

I have made no great discoveries, other than non orig parts have been used in the service.
So I have ordered from Land Rover a fuel filter and air filter .. just in case.
The oil has also been filled so that overnight it is around half inch higher on the dip stick than I would have liked.
Have had the fault codes read again after a few thousand miles. Nothing to report there, other than an error from one of the EGR valves (which have been plugged), that won't now go away. From memory it was something to do with 'flow'.
Also at idol the balancing of four of the injectors is around '850', while two of them are going as high as '1000'?
I have a number of runs this week with the horses in tow which always makes the judder more noticable

My apologies, I'm updating a later thread. 85% of my whine was worn rear discs rubbing the lip on the pad. There is still a roar/not right induction noise. I unplugged the MAF and have run it for two days (short runs) unplugged. Pick up/ throttle response is much better. The new one should be in tomorrow, I'll update after I've fitted it.

Ok, So MAF Sensor fitted, throttle response much better...for a while until I guess the ecu relearnt.
We still have the same problem,flat throttle response and the more I drive it it has become intermittent.
We had our second baby last weekend so tinkering time is over, can anyone recommend a disco expert in the midlands who can take over?

Right then, intercooler hoses changed with no improvement. My thoughts have now moved onto the DM Flywheel. Could this component have a failure mode which, once warmed up, would cause the engine to be lumpy under load? I can't find any mention elsewhere on the site about what kind of noise a DMF would make when it is on the way out. Or I could just give up and wait for it to get worse..... sigh

The DMF on mine was noisy on tick-over - clattered.
It was awkward to get into and out of gears.
When setting off with the trailer it would judder as the clutch was let up.
I am still not convinced that my judder is the injectors. There are two types of injectors used on the D3, both look the same but according to VDO they are not interchangeable. Our local diesel injection specialist also has two part numbers for the D3 injectors. The best price I could get for mine was £140+VAT.
So I have been exploring other bits of the vehicle as even if I get six new injectors there is no guarantee it will cure the problem. Having taken their guy for a test drive to demonstrate the fault to him, he got the glazed look which I have seen all to often. This is followed by the comment 'not had a fault like that before'.
The transfer box is currently top of my hit list. I am getting what I think is an odd reading from the 'Slip Speed Sensor'. But without anything to compare it against I have no idea if it is correct or incorrect. As the oil in the box gets warm it starts to give me a reading or '0' or '636' mph. The saw tooth waveform produced seems to mimic the judder. Coincidence ?
I have changed the very expensive ‘Special’ oil in it. About half a litre came out and 1.5lts went back in.
No difference.
There is suppose to be a way of calibrating it but I don't seem to be able to trigger it manually. Must need T4 for that.
If anyone can tell me what this reading is and what it should be I would be grateful.
My thoughts have drifted on occasion to the gearbox and the DMF. It has only been in there 3months surely it can’t be that..

Ian, has anyone suggested the torque converter to you as have seen under load judders on here being as a result of that? Apparently the clutch plates inside it slip causing the judder. A transmission oil change or mega flush can fix he problem. What's the mileage on yours? Mine has been doing it for 6mths or so, never gets any worse but do want it fixed. If only mine was an auto, but it is a manual.
