| D3 Whining noise low speeds! |
|
1st post, so Happy New year to everyone. Whining noise 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears at low speed worse when cornering. No noise at any other time. Main dealer says Rear Diff needs replaced. Disco under 5 years old and less than 50000 miles, shouldnt Land Rover be contributing to costs? Cheers Col

Welcome!!
Sounds like it coud be a bearing, worse cornering one way than t'other? Or a diff. Whine road speed related or engine speed. Re LR contributing, it's a case of dream on I'm afraid.

Welcome to the land of D3 banter oh and advice
You haven't said if noise is coming from rear or it it is worse cornering both ways or just one?
Also is there any oil leaks from rear diff?
sounds more like a wheel bearing to me as not sure a noisy diff would shut up at higher speeds , but sure someone will be along soon with a different view TDV6 SE Zermatt Silver
