Seen wheel spacers on eBay and wondered if any one runs them and why
is it just for bigger wheels to give clearance or does it help with stability on normal road wheels or is it looks

Also put extra stress on wheel bearings by moving the contact patch out and increasing leaverage.
They already wear out a bit too quick on the front of a D3 for my liking.

I’ve not used them on a D3, but have used them on a Shogun I had, and also a modified Subaru legacy I had years ago.
Both cars suffered with wheel bearing failure earlier than I’d have expected, but I sold the cars before the second set went.
It’s obvious when you look at it, the contact patch of the tyre is designed to be in a certain place on the road under the hub, and the bearings resist the turning force trying to pivot the wheel up under the arch. By moving the contact patch out the lever acting on the bearing is longer and exerts more force.
This isn’t an issue with a very slim spacer, or on a car where the bearings are up to the job in the first place, but the front bearings on a D3 need to be changed very early in a cars life compared to other vehicles, so I personally wouldn’t do anything that would bring the failure on earlier.
Putting wider wheels on does not have quite the same effect, as the extra width should be added to both the inside and outside of the wheel, leaving the contact patch in the same place under the hub.
I’ll sit back now and wait for somebody to call me a prat.

I run 30mm TerraFirma spacers all round. Makes it look good but to be honest, I can't say that it has improved road holding to any noticeable amount. I suspect that is because I have other issues yet to be found - MOT tomorrow
That said, I also agreed with Nasher; - had spacers on some of my older cars in my younger years (those were the days) and did suffer premature bearing failure.

I have 30mm spacers. Front left wheelbarrow went at 150,000km, cost CHF 530 or about £368 including 1.5 hours layabout costs at CHF 120 (£83)/hour . Anyone know of a Landrover garage in Bosnia (cheaper rates) ?
sorry about the automatic spelling checker, too many smelling pistakes. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song
