my Disco 4 is pinging me that its service is due.
Bearing in mind that it is under warranty until March, can i get it serviced at a local garage, but specify to them that if any repair work that needs to be done that would be covered by warranty so no need for them to do it?
does this affect my warranty with land rover at all?
Only asking cos i dont really want to pay out the extortionate service cots of LR when i get get it serviced for 2/3 the price at a local garage.
cna anyone help?

You can, but unless you keep the car forever, you'll lose the savings at sale by not having a FLRSH. IMHO you'd be better off haggling with a dealer and getting them to price match. VIN: A175A328*** Bought at 43k Now on 56k
New rear PDC sensor 43k miles
New 950amp battery 45k miles
Recall master brake servo 47k miles
Tailgate latch cable 56k miles
Pads and discs 61k miles

Does having the FLRSH really make that much of a difference, surely it should be as long as the car has been serviced and you have the FSH?

Shop around the franchised service bays. Especially if you have Navigation that wants map updating!
Howcome your warranty runs out in March, btw? D4's didn't go on sale until late 2009........ 59 D4 XS (2.7 TDV6 6 speed Manual) Commercial (UK spec) with extras such as Premium Navigation.

When I traded my D3 in - the SH was something they commented on, but not sure if it made a massive diffence on a 97K 5 year old car?

you can have it serviced any were as long as they use LR parts ( and i think have to be VAT registered )
that still counts as part of the service history ..and any warranty claims will be honored by LR G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

You can have it serviced at any VAT registered workshop using LR parts and the warranty remains intact...
BUT, that could affect eligibility for the car to enter the LR Approved Used programme and that may subsequently affect trade in value as a main agent would be unable to stick it on his forecourt (so would have to go to auction).
Obviously, not an issue if you are planning to private sale or are keeping the car for a good while (as it may not be eligible for LR Approved or otherwise too old for dealer stock anyway).
