Just had a quote for some repair work to the front of the car & one problem was some scratches to the plastic headlamp cover. The guy at the bodyshop says the covers aren't available separately & a new headlamp will be £600.
Does that sound right?

Yep, if you can't live with them like that. Another option is eBay for a set of halogens for ~£100 or xenons for ~£300+.
PS £600 sounds a bit cheap though.
