Changing radio frequencies US/NAS to Europe on LR4

Hi,

my US/NAS LR4 did not have the european frequencies, the were at US standard (only 91,1 - 91,3 - 91,5 - only odd numbers after the comma). This was not usable in Germany.

LR customer support said: You need other hardware. Together with my really friendly LR dealer, we only found the DAB reciever module as a different part to the US SDARS-reciever. I ordered (800€!!!), but it did not work. No DAB (wrong digital antenna), no analog radio.

After searching and studying lots of information, wiring diagrams and LR parts catalogues I finally got the solution for enabling the european frequency range on my LR4 from the US:

- get a 5 meter Fakra antenna extension cable with universal "Fakra" plugs
- unmonunt the audio unit (CD) in the middle console
- plug in the extension cable in the unused antenna connector of the audio module
- install the cable to the boot
- open the right boot side with the US IBOC reciever
- disconnect the black antenna plug from the IBOC reciever and connect the the extension
- disable IBOC on several places in the car configuration file with faultmate or at the dealer
- enable the european settings for frequencies
- done

In fact a really simple solution (it's only "work"), I am a little bit disappointed, the LR customer support did not give more detailled information.

Greetings

No.

The NAS car has a completly different reciever in the boot. And the main cable doesn't have the antenna cable from the audio unit in the front to the AM/FM amplifier in the back.

Hi,

yes, I sorted it out. The NAS LR4 do not have the antenna cable from the front audio module to the antenna in the back. The LR4 for the US have a second radio module (IBOC) for the american frequencies (and sirius).

So I put in a new antenna extension cable (fakra) from the front module (which is the same) to the boot, connected it at the plug of the antenna at the IBOC and disabled IBOC with my faultmate, changed to european frequencies.

Lots of investigation and studying the cable plans, trying this and than found the solution. No dealer and even LR could not solve this... Wink

Hi,
do you have any more details how to change these settings just with the faultmate? I will run in to the same problem in a few month.

greetings
