Suspension lowering a high speed

Hello, this is my first post as I will have my D3 on next Wednesday.
I've gone through the owners manual suspension section at GTR and I found the suspension lowers 2 cm when speed reaches 160 km/h.
With spanish speed limit (120 km/h) this suspension position is useless.
I would like to enhance highway stability by lowering suspension, do you know if its possible to reduce the 160 km/h speed set point?
 Regards

Rafa

Welcome to the site Thumbs Up

It's not possible unless you go for something like the Matzker handling kit but I wouldn't bother as it's incredibly stable anyway so unless you intend on taking hairpin bends at 120 km/h it's a non issue. We took some of your Spanish mountain bends at speed going to and from Morocco with no stability issues, you'll find you bottle out long before the D3 is reaching its limits Shocked

And then Talent Control kicks in and does a pretty good job of not letting you fall off the road. As long as the laws of physics are not broken that is Wink

I've travelled at in excess of 230km/h plenty of times on Spanish motorways (although not in the D3, obviously Wink ), so don't worry about it. If you want the suspension to drop, just speed up til it does Very Happy

It doesn't go up again until (IIRC) you fall below about 80 or 85 mph for a few seconds anyway. What's that, about 130-135 km/h ish? So, exceed the limit a lot once, then just keep exceeding it a little bit Wink

Oh come come now - just a shade under 100mph

As an ardent supporter of imperial measures magic ratios like 1.609 are easy (and bl**dy necessary these days) for me to remember Cool Laughing

It is subtle but does do it - feels firmer and stable

I tried on an autobahn - purely in the interest of science

Ok, thanks everybody.

First of all, we have recently started with driving license points in Spain. Really I'm trying to self educate on driving at so low speeds, really it is so boring driving below speed limits... my biggest problem is not falling sleep.

One of the reasons to change my previous car is to find something more, at least I will be able to go off road, and at the same time, due to the car dimensions, for sure I will reduce my speeds.

The suspension question came from my curiosity on what kind of things can or cannot be modified
 Regards

I didn't notice it on high speeds like this Confused Confused

But lowering over the 160km/h is very high, the 911 carrera (I know it's faster than a D3) have a raer spoiler that raises over 80km/h or any time manually, that's cool Cool Cool

Rafa,

In fairness I know they have started to clamp down a bit on Spanish motorways. Had a few near misses myself, where the one in front just went through the laser a bit ahead of me Confused

Keep it safe - keep it at normal height Wink

Nick.

why do you want to go fast in a Disco3 -bought the wrong vehicle?
I do a load of miles per year. In my previous guise as a 'car driver' [never, never to be repeated] there were always pressures to 'get ahead - keep ahead' of the other guy. In the D3 it's a totally different world. I waft along motorways at [on or about the legal] 70 mph [overspeed limiter set at 75]. e.g. on the M1 south, Mon morn, I cruise in the inside/middle lane and get further ahead than those bmw etc petrolheads desperate to be the quickest on the road.
And I don't sweat like they do!!! Wink
