Interference on Aux stereo input -anyone had this?

As a dedicated iPodder, I've been trying to get apples finest to talk to my D3 stereo via the aux input. I have a 4th gereration iPod 40Gb, with it's own docking station. I connect the line output from the dock to the Aux input via a nice quality chunky 3.5mm male-male cable.

Here's the bit I need help with:
Most times I get either a faint clickety-clickety noise coming from somewhere to the left of the passanger footwell. It sounds like a little relay clicking, though I can't tell if it's "real" or via the stereo.

Other times I get a buzzing/interference noise. I then pratt about aimlessly turning things on and off. Selecting CD, AUX, FM, etc. I turn the car on and off. I plug in and uplug the ipod for a bit, turing it on and off. Open a door, close it again and reset the central locking and eventually the car stops clicking and/or buzzing and my ipod music pours forth from the D3 speakers with admirable clarity and quality.

Any suggestions? Anyone had this one themselves?

All the best
Rob

Aux noise

I've had this same issue...fixed it by swapping the cable ends around -eg plug the cable end that was in the ipod into the aux and vice versa.

Swopping the connection lead made no difference, so it's going into the dealer tomorrow for a look-see.

gilmorr,

How are you connecting the iPod to the Aux input? Earphone socket or via a docking station?
