chip/remap TD Performance?

had my '05 disco 3 SE 3 weeks, I absolutely love it (wife and 4yr old have same sentiments) despite the new suspension compressor last week (fitted just in time for faultless drive to spain)

loving the forum too - tightened my loose right tailgate strut (thank you) and checking map sensor tomorrow. also some new parts from the excellent TLO, adding 2 stroke oil in fuel, checked this and done that, fab.

question - I have an associate who can supply the TD performance remap plug and play kit for £300. has any body experience of this on a 100k miles plus vehicle? i'm hoping the claimed benefits could pay off in a few months with improved mpg plus the added grin whilst driving. The vehicle has the occasional judder at 2000rpm (TC issues?), could this or other things be exaserpated?

sincere thanks to all for the tips and help

brgds

A well done remap will not affect your mpg negatively and might just about give you 1-2mpg if you're lucky. Mine hasn't adversely affected the consumption, anyway, and it's way better in mid-range.

If you use all the power all the time, then sure, it'll wear out all sorts of things a bit faster, but to be honest, how often do you drive like that? My remap just makes the it a slightly torquier shed, but it'll never be a sports car.

If you have a judder, get the Megaflush done asap - if you're lucky, it'll sort it out. Leave it too long and you'll probably end up, as I did, with a TC rebuild.

many thanks for the advice and info. you say a 'well done' rempa. the one i'm looking at )as i live in spain is off the shelf so perhaps not as efficient as a full remap.

incidentally is a megaflush doable at home for a layman, if not is it ok for a non landy specialist or is that a dealer workover?

i'm fairly basic in my experience but enthusiastic for self learning. i havent yet searched this place for a 'how to'. any tips and pointers most welcome.

ps i have heard that a TC flush can make the judder worse??

cheers

Having read some more i think that a megflush is way beyond the average layman. Hence the lack of replies. If anybody knows a good independent 4x4/ land rover specialist in the Barcelona area i'd be keen to hear more.

Be wary of "simple" plug-in go faster devices, they are often little more than resistors that trick the ecu into thinking there is more load/more air and so dumping more fuel in.

This is of course, not a re-map, there is no alteration to the map at all! (though I hope your associate wouldn't try and charge you £300 for one of these!)
