Foot and Mouth

Lets hope this outbreak gets nipped in the bud as it will close down the country side again and this time it will be a good excuse to stop green laning.

Hmmmm, very concerning for everyone. I live in a village of 12 houses and four livestock farms. We were lucky they weren't affected. I hope the authorities act swiftly and decisively and erase this outbreak.

BTW: I don't remember there being much pressure to close green lanes permanently last time. Was there?

Big Cry Can't believe this, if this foot and mouth outbreak spreads like in 2001 then that's my shooting/picking up season over as it's all on farm land with livestock. Big Cry

Perhaps they should nuke Surrey to prevent it spreading???? Laughing

Just for once I'm going to say balls to keeping the green lanes open and Thumbs Up to doing everything possible to limit this outbreak. There's more at stake than out leisure time folks; a lot of my friends are going to be deep, deep, deep in the crap if this goes off like last time. One was due to take delivery of a herd of pedigree herefords this weekend after forking out ££££s and is now unable to move his rams to tup, totally screwing his January lambing. Fingers crossed it will be sorted and he can double up for the Feb lambing, in which case I will cancel the family ski holiday to help him, cos he's going to need every pair of hands he can get, the poor sod.

C'mon folks, every farmer I know, without exception, enjoys playing with his 4x4. Let's get behind them and please, please, please respect any lane closures. IF the government subsequently try to take us roughly from behind we can then count on those same farmers and the countryside alliance for some support. If you haven't joined the alliance and you enjoy offroad driving, you may want to consider it
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
