My car started to drop/lower overnight (or over 2 nights). Dealer asked me to test it with parked in off-road height and battery disconnected. Left front was lowering - front valvle block leaking somewhere - got replaced - no dropping anymore. There wer no faults shown. 2007 Disco III SE - TDV6, Auto; club Faultmate MSV2

Hi all.
Im new to all this,if it is a nutty type message expected Im sorry,in actual fact my message is one of desperation having persued LR all through warrenty with no satisfaction. I am a LR 'head' so feel completly let down. Why is it that these people are so clue less.
This is my tale.
D3 HSE 12/06
Driving along one day quite happily when all of a sudden the suspension went rock hard, from a normal ride to a series 2a ride without warning. Immediately rung the dealer who it was under warranty with who took it in for tests over 6 times but where unable to find the fault, for one thing there was no faults showing on their gizmo, so according to them there can’t be a fault, because the fault became intermittent, every time they took it out it did not show up.
Sometimes if I set the suspension to off road and let it return on driving off it will return to a normal supple ride. It is like the suspension locks up in rock hard mode with no supple give at all, it is pretty awful.
Is it normal for the rear suspension to settle on it’s own after locking the vehicle. Not all the time just sometimes. Used to be the front that did it but that has stopped now.
Am hoping some one out there can shed some light on what component needs changing because at the moment Landover and their dealers are clueless.
It is no longer under warrenty now so they have got out of that. Land rover dealers do not get paid for explority work only for a set amount per ietem changed and then only if it is broken. My big gripe is that they would not change a component to see if it was that item that was faulty. Not concerned enough to make just one long term user happy.

Did this occur before warranty expire ( fill out your details so we know what year it is)
Settling with a fart when locking is normal.
I have experienced the same feel to the suspension but I had a warning on the dash saying "do not drive over 30mph".
Off road height is much harder than normal height due to higher pressure in the bags, so maybe it is self leveling too high for some reason. "A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both- and deserve neither"

Just out of warrenty 5 weeks. Failed Air suspension Compressor at only 34,700K !!! Dealer replaced it with part number ROLR015303 Comp-air susp exch. I'm not sure if this is a new part or a reconditioned exchange unit. Any one know? Does this mean that I should not lower the vehicle to access height each time i stop to get out. Always wanted one now I have one I have to convince my wife its ok

| Continue to lower the vehicle as you normally would. |
|
You may as well lower your 3 as you normally would. If the compressor is going to die again, it will, and probably not even earlier than it normally would have - and you will never know anyway.
You probably have a rebuilt compressor, but that means it probably has the lastest upgrades, whereas with a new unit, you do not know what revision it really is.
I actually gather that the most recent and perhaps most significant revision to the system is not to the compressor, but to the software that controls the system.
It sounds like the nominal max working pressure of the system, (when the compressor cuts off), has been reduced. I do not know the numbers, but I gather that the idea is that the compressor motor etc would now have to run longer, but not work as hard. This might be a good idea as while other manufacturers do have air suspension systems, none of them routinely run at much above 150 psig (10 bar). The 3 runs closer to 16 bar and I do not think anyone, (particularily LR), yet can build a 16 bar compressor that will last four years, (to at least to warrenty completion). 2005 LR3 HSE 4.4L V8 petrol; Zambezi Silver; 18" x 10 spoke wheels; underside of glass roof located hidden cellular patch antenna; Traxide Dual Battery install; Air Suspension ECU 35P fuse disconnect; PIAA 2500K Yellow Ion H11 Fog Light bulbs; CounterAct LT-2 Capacitive Corrosion control; LLumar AIR80 Blue clear Infra Red blocking side window film; Liftgate manual release; Schrader Valve "air in" mod to OEM air suspension reservoir tank.

Survey completed but another failure must be noted. Dealer work done for compressor failure at 103,456 km (valve kit and drier kit) did not totally solve problem as compressor failed in same manner almost one week later at 104,140 km.
As no compressors were available to purchase, dealer supplied and fitted a Local Exchange Compressor, (PN ROLR015303L).
We shall see how it fares. TDV6 Auto - Bonatti Grey towing an 18' Bushtracker offroad 'van

Just had a fault appear on mine, its from the dark side i know, but the same system i assume. The message centre came up with "Suspension Fault, Normal height only" and the amber warning light is on, just prior to this the compressor kicked in whilst driving at standard road height The vehicle has done 113K KM's and is just over 4 years old, hopefully covered by allianz extended warranty. Over the last two days the vehicle has dropped from below on-road standard height to just above access.. I will report back when its fixed.
UPDATE 5th August: New Air Compressor fitted by LR Specailist at Brookvale, mine was the 3rd they had seen in a week, all on Sports
They are using an aftermarket compressor (cannot get hold of LR stock) for those on Allianz extended warranty
Thanks another Pommie from the darkside

Hi aglewis, and welcome,
Chances are, it is the rotary coupler (clock spring) which connects between the steering column and the steering wheel. Do you know if this has been replaced previously?
Best Wishes,

In August 2010 I had the F/n/s suspension air bag replaced because of a leak, prior to the replacement the Disco was dropping to the floor, things were ok for a while after the air bag was replaced then I noticed that during the cold weather in December the Disco started to drop over night again right down to the stops, this was combined with a warning on the dash saying the special programme was not working or words to this effect, I have a friend with a diagnostic tool and the following fault codes came up "C1130 Air spring air supply " and "P0001 Fuel air bag volume FEG-open circuit I also had V0416, V0404 V0300 also showing, I have had fault codes cleared before following a run down battery, my questions are, could some of the fault codes be attributed to a low battery and is the C1130 and P0001 fault codes showing a fault on the system which is causing the disco to drop over night.
can anyone help and is there a web site listing fault codes anywhere?
I have a 2006 Disco TDV6 HSE
