Rear upper tailgate not opening, not switch or actuator
Hi All,
The boot on my partners disco 3 stopped opening by the switch on the tail gate, the key button worked for a while but now that doesn’t open it either (might need reprogramming so ruling that out as an issue for the moment) if I hold the 2 buttons in the centre console for 5 seconds it opens the boot with someone pulling on it as expected so I know the actuator is working.
I replaced the switch in the tail gate but it made no difference, I’ve seen on the forum something about wiring in the foot well possibly being an issue? But nothing conclusive or any pictures to show what was found wrong. I don’t have any wiring diagrams or an idea of what I’d be looking at.
Any help would be much appreciated!

As all ready stated my actuator is working? Unless there is a reason for an old actuator to just not work from the switch, but from what I understand the same signal is sent whether it’s the switch or the buttons on the dash so just replacing the actuator wouldn’t work?

Hi ollie, wonder if you found the fault with your upper tailgate as I have same fault.
Any advice would be most welcome.

No not had chance to have another look, the boot still opens when using either the key fob or holding the 2 buttons on the dash, I put a new button switch on the tailgate but that didn’t fix it either so I suspect a damaged cable somewhere possibly in the top of the boot where it moves when opening

Hi Leon
Don’t know if it helps but if u do need to replace ur actuator I’ve seen that some people have bought a Ford Fiesta actuator
Plus if u don’t mind me mentioning there’s a ground wire as u look at the boot in the left hand side locker
Hope that helps and never know it might just be a bad ground or rod and won’t need an actuator

Hi, Many thanks for that connector diagram, I think the actuator is OK because when I press the unlock and lock buttons on dash the upper tailgate will open ok.
Doesn't open when tailgate handle button is pressed.
Happy Christmas.
