Re: Can it be that i finally found the solution?

I have this Transmission problem. TC is not closing in high gears.

The Sollution in the eyes of the "friendly people" is changing the TC.
that does not close the TC. A new TC just conceils the symptoms.

The other sollution of "the lying" people is to built in a new transmission.

I hate to change a 2-3k€ Part wenn a 10 cents part is faulty.

I came along this video:
A video of a BMW with aZF6HP26 transmission. The same i had in my BMW 730 and the same as the LR3.
In the Comments: "Mechatronic/valve body that controls the oil pressure to the torque converter's clutch is worn out and leaks enough for the pressure to decrease enough to disengage the clutch. After that it gets a surge of pressure and locks up again."

Also this Comment:

Anyway, for the usual surging there are many reasons.

1) solenoid controlling the valve is dirty/going bad
2) seals in that valve are bad. For that there's http://www.sonnax.com/parts/4379-zip-kit
3) the actual metal body is worn. In that case, the cylinder would need to be bored and oversized valve installed
4) clutch of the torque converter is worn out

So number 2 is the 0,10€ seal am looking for. I want to start checking if this seal is faults and after that i can change the more expensive bits.

Here is a kit a could use for that: http://www.sonnax.com/parts/4379-zip-kit

I also found this link: https://sayyarti.wordpress.com/2015/01/20/...on-issues/
and

This is also very informativ.

I will do some more logging as soon as my Instrument Cluster gets back to me.
I hope to find out with which values i can pinpont the failure.

But i have a feeling i am getting nearer....

Dutchrockboy: Have you done the Mechatronic yet? I have shudder during acceleration and the rpm needle are fluctuating in steady motorway speed at 100-120 km/h and 1700-2100 rpm
I would love to change a small part my self instead of a complete overhauled gearbox Smile

2006 Auto TDV6 - New Gear Box & T Converter.

I have a discovery 3 2006 Auto and I have had the judder and torque converter noise(that you can hear when the gears are changing)

I have had a couple of mega flushes, they help but unfortunately mine is terminal - yesterday, sticking gears, high revs - HDC & Transmission Fault.

So, she booked in with MPB 4X4 to have new gearbox and torque converter! I have had a slow leak between the gear box and engine since I owned her so hoping the new gearbox with new seals should fix it!

Discovery 3's are like kit cars! replace and re-build ha ha!!!! tell me? has anyone here had a D3 new gearbox and T Converter fitted? how was it? other problems?

Thanks all Jonny Smile

Full Transmission Rebuild

I had a similar issue with transmission problems and had my transmission rebuilt two years ago.

After several attempts at getting the matter resolved, I finally gotthe transmission back to its normal self.

This cost in total, between purchasing a new a new fully reconditioned solenoid from ZF factory via SussexAutos to rebuilding the transmission itself cost in the region of 4000 euros.

The key challenge is to find a reputable engine and transmission specialist in particular with the ZF transmission.

if I had my time all over again, I would've purchased a full ZF factory remanufactured transmission, and sourced a reputable transmission specialist to install.

I couldn't fault Sussex Autos for their efficiency and value for money in terms of the ZF solenoid. I also understand they sell fully reconditioned ZF transmissions from the ZF company.

With the current kroner to pounds sterling exchange rate, I'd say you would get excellent value for money. Please note, I'm not on commission or affiliated in any way with Sussex autos, just just an ordinary customer.

Just replaced TC and all my problems are solved. I know the man to speak to who will supply you with a remanufactured one. All done for under £500

Hi. Yes torque converter absolutely fine, smooth as can be. However could’ve all been wasted as Engine has now snapped the cam chain! Now wondering if it can be taken off without removing body from car.
