you can save some effort by using the generic winch tray that the milemarker people sell. £35! Leaves you with a lot less cutting and fabrication.

that is only really any good for a defender or somthing like that, i have had one in my hand, the ammount of arsing you would have to do with it to use it wouldent be worth it.
Far better to start with the right one in the first place.

You'd be astonished the amount of arsing about I can put up with to not spend over £400.

... So you spend (as an average) £30k on a vehicle, £60-65 every time you fill the tank but won't spend £400 on a purpose made winch mount? Thud just how much energy do you think your 'frigged-about-with' generic winch tray will cope with before it heads towards the tree you've anchored your D3 to? Confused

ah yes i see what you mean Laughing

i think if you were prepaired to Censored , it would probably be better to start with just a flat sheet of 8mm steel a welder and 50 or 60 angle grinder disks

Spirit of adventure Mr Ten, spirit of adventure.

I'm not proposing a gaffer tape and bluetack approach, but I am interested in exploring the possibilities. By the time VAT was added, the total price of the Matzker discrete mount was over £500, which is a whole pile of pennies by anyone's estimation.

I don't doubt I'll end up with a workshop full of bits of sheet steel, a few moderately serious burns, less hair and a £500 hole in my account after giving up and buying the Matzker kit, but hell, I want to try, damnit!!! Mad
