Tow Bar New lock with keys |
|
IN the process of buying a 2007 / 57 SE from Rocar Moores. Picking it up Friday. Can't Wait!! It has tow bar on but they are still hunting for keys as previous owner is not sure what they did with them . Reading posts on this site, is it true that they could just order me a new lock with keys? Assume this is a dealer only thing??

Yup, dealer can order in new lock and key and shouldn't have any problem swapping it over prior to you collecting the car I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

So how did the previous owner manage to get the key out of the lock without it being in the socket
Rocar Moores should be able to sort this in a few minutes. Don't sign for the car until they have. Great at selling - will deny everything once you have signed and left the building . . . . . "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

they did get me a new lock & keys which I have fitted myself. Was rather surprised at the simplicity of the change given the cost of the towbars. Glad mine came with it!!

Mine spontaneously decides it's fixed to the car when sat on the shelf in the workshop and the key can pop out, while this morning it decided it wouldn't fit in the car as the locking bar wasn't fully retracted. Frankly the locks are sh it but I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and leave the sodding thing attached and risk some chav having it. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Mine "clicks" when I try to retrack the lock bar and it does not go all the way back in so can't fit it.
Is it normal to click when trying to retract thelock ?
Should the lock bar go back flush when fully retracted? If not how much stcks out Tourer

It should go back flush. If it doesn't, then constant wriggling or just leaving it on a workbench somewhere for 5 minutes can cause it to behave itself. Some randomness is always evident in the workings of these things I'm afraid. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Can anyone recommend some where i can buy a new lock and key to fit to my disco3.
Failed to get a key for it when purchased. ( non landrover dealer ) I have heard that
that there maybe a method of removing existing lock by drilling it out.
Can anyone advise.
Thanks
Gerry
